Abstract:

What: Estimated residential air conditioning prevalence from property records. The data will be provided at the zip code tabulation area or census tract level. Where: States of Florida, Louisiana, and Texas at the zip code tabulation area or census tract level. Why: Statewide, local, air conditioning prevalence was last generated by the 1980 U.S. Census. Access to air conditioning and the ability to pay for it are consequential for preventing heat related illness and improving indoor air quality. How: The project will use machine learning to estimate aggregated air conditioning prevalence from individual residential property records. When: The project period cover 2023-2026. We anticipate the data will be shared by 2026.
